Be The Basketball for School Sports Partnerships

School Sports partnerships

  • A revolutionary idea which aims to use EVERYONE in the school sports partnership.
  • BTB Basketball will coach a network of sessions in all of the primary schools within your cluster for one term.
  • Sessions are specifically formatted for primary school children.
  • Primary school staff will be able to learn and sustain these sessions through observation and comprehensive session plans.
  • JSLA (Junior Sports Leaders Award) students or sports coaching pupils will assist BTB Basketball in their sessions as a way of fullfilling their course requirements of practical application.
  • After the term, primary schools will all compete in a weekly tournament/ league held at at the secondary school.
  • Here a range of different individual and team accolades are on offer!

So who benefits?

Primary School children...
get to learn a new sport, make new friends (thus improve in their own personal development), become regularly in touch and familiar with a secondary school and it’s pupils, easing the process of transition into secondary school. More importantly they learn a coordinated skill from a very young age and in the coming years can have the opportunity of playing at the national league level.primary school basketball

Primary School teachers...

learn a new sport they can effectively teach, building even more on the relationship they have with their pupils and giving them another tool in their teaching arsenal. They also get to compete in healthy competition against other primary schools as the performance of the children will often reflect how they have been taught, creating a stage for competition even among staff.

Secondary School pupils...
complete their required hours for their junior sports leaders award, have the opportunity to coach in a real-life application, possibly secure themselves a line of work as soon as they finish compulsory education (as BTB Basketball would be willing to employ students around their college/ 6th form timetable) and get to become role models for primary school children.

School Sports Coordinator's...
will have fulfilled the requirement of their post to implement a positive sports initiative that conforms with ‘Every Child Matters’ and government plans of sports development in schools. You will have implemented a sustainable program that will be able to continue running without external contractors, thus not exceeding the due budget.
